The wonderful Itria Valley (Valle d'Itria) is one of the most attractive areas in the South of Italy, a picturesque landscape studded with fairy-tale trulli houses built of dry stone with thick solid walls and conical roofs, and a beautiful rural countryside covered with a rich vegetation of ancient  olives, almonds and vineyards.

The Itria valley is also home to some of Puglia’s most beautiful towns: Cisternino, with its mediaeval centre of brillant white houses and narrow traffic-free streets, Ostuni, the “white” town, the picturesque Locorotondo,  Martina Franca, a pretty and unique Baroque town, Ceglie Messapica with its typical restaurants. The fishing village of Savelletri, and a wide range of beaches from sandy bays to rocky coves are just 15 mins. drive away.

CISTERNINO

With its stunning views and medieval buildings, the whitewashed town of Cisternino sits above a landscape of olive trees and vineyards. The town itself is elegant and charming, narrow alleys leading tourists past ancient houses with balconies and open staircases.

MARTINA FRANCA

Charming baroque buildings, airy piazzas and a web of lanes make up Martina Franca’s old quarter, Puglia at its most elegant. This town was founded in the 10th century by refugees escaping the Arab invasion of Taranto. It only started to flourish in the 14th century when Philip of Anjou granted tax exemptions; the town became so rich that a castle and defensive walls complete with 24 solid bastions were built. It has some ugly modern areas, its historic baroque centre is very attractive. Martina Franca is the base for the annual Festival della Valle d'Itria, a summer opera festival.

ALBEROBELLO

The town is named after the primitive oak forest Arboris Belli (beautiful trees) that once covered this area. It’s is a beautiful town, and the trulli quartier is is truly magical, but is also something of a tourist trap. The town's historical center is on a hilltop, amid the scent of almond and olive trees, and has been declared an International Human Resource by UNESCO. It is made up of a hundred trulli some 5 centuries old.

LOCOROTONDO

Locorotondo is a small town in the region of Puglia in southern Italy. It is situated between Martina Franca and Alberobello. As well as its picturesque appearance the town is also famous for its wine production.

CEGLIE MESSAPICA

Once you get past the new construction, the old quartier in the middle of the town is very nice and offers many narrow rolling streets. white little terraced houses and staircases. Ceglie Messapica has some fantastic typical well known restaurants.
